Major League Baseball Hall of Famer and Hometown Hero Tim Raines Special Guest at City of Sanford Youth Baseball Opening Day Ceremonies

SANFORD, Fla. (March 4, 2019) – Join us this Saturday, March 9, as we celebrate hometown hero Tim Raines.  Tim was born and raised in Sanford and attended Seminole High School, where he was a four-sport athlete.  He was drafted in 1977 by the Montreal Expos, which led to a 23-year career in the major leagues. His most notable achievements include: 808 career stolen bases, good for 4th all-time, 1986 National League Batting Champion, 7 time all-star and 3 time World Series Champion.  For more details about his athletic career, please visit this page.

Tim will be on hand for the City of Sanford’s Youth Baseball Opening Day Ceremonies at the Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium.  Once the kids are on the field, the tone of the celebration will shift to honor Tim's induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in 2017!  There will be guest speakers, a proclamation, a few special gifts for Tim, and finally some words from the man himself.

What: Tim Raines, Major League Baseball Hall of Famer and Hometown Hero, will be presented with the Key to the City at Saturday’s Youth Baseball Opening Day Ceremonies.
